On day 74 of my Final Fantasy marathon, I left off after visiting the Library of Ancients with Ghido. Today, I’m on my way to the pyramid in the Desert of Shifting Sands.

Guardian Tree

We pass through the Forest of Moore and grieve for all those we have lost on our journey at the Guardian Tree. We resolve to stop Exdeath so their lives will not have ended in vain.

Pyramid

As it turns out, the desert is no longer shifting, thanks to the destruction of the Earth crystals. We waltz on in to the pyramid.

However, we must defeat the guardians to get through the door. The Pyramid of Moore has 28 chests and no items.

A pair of Gargoyles attacks when we attempt to enter the pyramid. The trick to defeating them is taking them both down at the same time.

Otherwise, they revive. I end up using Zeininage to cheese my way past them. The pyramid is full of puzzles and traps.

Many of the chests contain Dark Matter and other repeat treasures. There are also a couple of cursed items.

Rand gets some Black Garb. We find a Gaia Hammer. Eventually, we make our way to the first tablet.

The platform raises us to the top of the pyramid. Krile reads it and it says, “The Dragon King, Bahamut.”

We see a peninsula sink and Bahamut rise from the sea and fly off. He tells us he will wait for us on the summit of North Mountain.

We also spot the airship. I missed a few treasures on the way to the tablet, so I go back in to get them.

The most valuable of the lot is the Crystal Armor, which goes to Rand. Once I have all the chests, I teleport out, save the game and quit for the night.
