On day 79 of my Final Fantasy marathon, I took on Omega and lost. Today, I’m back for a rematch.

Omega

After leveling up a bit, I finally took out Omega by switching my jobs to Bard for Lenna, Mystic Knight for Faris, and Mime for the other two. I had Lenna cast Romeo’s Ballad to briefly stop Omega.

Faris attack with Thundaga spellsword and Rapid Fire, and the other two mimic. My reward was 50,000 Gil, 100 ABP, and the Omega Badge.

Apanda

Our next challenge was Apanda. He didn’t require any special strategy to beat.

We found Red Slippers and a Rainbow Dress in a chest. We then faced off against Azulmagia.

Azulmagia

Again, we didn’t need a particular strategy to win this one. Once we defeated him, a save point appeared.

Castastrophe

Catastrophe was next up. Again, we just hit him with our most powerful attacks. A woman who had been locked in a cell with him gave us a smooch and thanked us for setting her free before running off.

We found the Man-Eater in a chest. As we attempted to leave a throne room, the woman we set free showed up and scolded us for our rudeness.

Halicamassus

She morphed into Halicamassus and attacked. Again, we didn’t need a special strategy to win.

Twintania

Next up was Twintania. The key to beating this monster is to hit him with an instant death attack while he is charging up his big attack.

I battled him as normal to that point, then had Lenna cast Death to finish him off. Our next opponent was Gilgamesh.

Gilgamesh

Gilgamesh battled us as normal for a while, but then instead of running away like he usually does, he told us he didn’t really like it there anyway and asked us how to get out. Rand told him and he left, saying he hoped we would meet again some day.

Necrophobe

Our next opponent was Necrophobe. He was surrounded by barriers that reflect spells and keep him safe.

I used Rand’s Leviathan summon to take down the barriers and then proceeded with my normal attacks. Gilgamesh showed up to help us finish him off.

A save point appeared after the fight. Exdeath is next!

Exdeath

We finally find Exdeath. He tells us we are too late. Exdeath morphs into a tree and sucks all our friends into the Void.

He then sucks us into the Void, but the Dawn Warriors show up. They tell us they will hold off the Void so we can take out Exdeath.

We appear back in the rift and Exdeath doesn’t understand why he is losing the Void’s power. He tries to send us into the Void again, but King Tycoon and the Dawn Warriors stop him.

Mercifully, instead of going into the final battle and making you repeat that long sequence every time you attempt it, it gives you the chance to save the game first. So, I go back to the save point and then return.

Since there’s no ABP to earn for the mime class, I switch everyone to Freelancer. I give Rand Summon Lv. 5 and Time Magic Lv 6.

Lenna gets Black Magic Lv. 6 and Throw. Krile gets Revive and Recover. Faris gets White Magic Lv. 6 and Spellsword.

The first part of the battle is fairly easy. Exdeath gets sucked into the Void, but then re-emerges as Neo Exdeath.

This fight is much more difficult and after a few attempts, I decided I needed to level up. I also decided to teleport out of the dungeon so I could restock my supplies, since I didn’t have as many elixirs and ethers as I needed for the final battle.

I also bought some equipment that might help me make a better attempt at Shinryu on the way back. I saved the game and quit for the night outside the Phantom Village.
