On day 69 of my Final Fantasy marathon, I started the game Final Fantasy V Pixel Remaster. Today, I’m picking up where I left off after the ship graveyard.
Carwen
I walk southeast of the ship graveyard and find the town of Carwen. It has no chests and four items.

We learn that Walse is to the south, but we can’t walk there and we can’t sail because there is no wind. However, we find a man who claims he saw a dragon on North Mountain.
Lenna concludes it is her father’s Wind Drake Hiryu and he must be injured and seeking out the dragon grass on the mountain to heal his wounds. We decide we should go to North Mountain to find him and then ride him to Walse.
North Mountain
We walk north to North Mountain, which has two chests and no items. Lenna finds her father’s mythril helmet on the ground.
She picks it up and gets shot by a poison arrow. A woman named Magissa says she was hunting for the Wind Drake, but now she’s found something even more valuable to take to her husband.
Faris demands she let Lenna go and attempts to jump the gap to reach her, but falls. However, Faris manages to climb back up the cliff and tie a rope bridge so the rest of the party can cross.
The party battles Magissa and she eventually summons her husband, Forza. We defeat the pair of them using our usual tactic of having Lenna cast spells, Rand and Galuf attack, and Faris alternate between attacking and healing.
We get a whip and a power drink for winning the fight. Rand also gets to equip the mythril helm.
We find the injured Hiryu on the mountain top. Lenna walks through the poison grass to get dragon grass for his wounds and then collaspes.

Faris gives the dragon grass to Hiryu, which heals him. He then heals Lenna’s poisoning.
When it comes time to ride him to Walse, Rand chickens out because he is afraid of heights. However, after laughing at him, the rest of the party pushes him onto the wind drake and I gain control of Hiryu and fly him south to Walse.
Walse
The town of Walse has no chests and one item. I loot the town and do some shopping and then go on to the castle, which has one chest and six items.
We find the King of Walse and Lenna asks him to stop amplifying the power of the water crystal. The King refuses, saying there is no evidence that the water crystal will shatter like the wind crystal and the people would be big mad if they lost the comforts the water crystal grants them.
A meteorite lands near the water tower where the crystal is and the king and his men go to investigate. I explore the castle, finding an Elven Mantle in a chest in an area with a dangerous enemy called the jackaknapes.
I also find Shiva in a tower, but since I haven’t learned the summon job yet, it seems pointless to try to beat her, so I’ll come back for that fight. When I finish exploring, I return to the town to visit the inn and then save outside and quit for the night.
