On day 80 of my Final Fantasy marathon, I took on Exdeath, but my party wasn’t quite ready for the fight. Today, I’m going for the rematch.
Shinryu
On my way back to Exdeath, I stopped off to take on Shinryu. The equipment I bought in the Phantom Village made this a relatively simple fight.

With the entire party protected from most of his elemental attacks, I was able to take him out by casting Bahamut and Flare and healing and reviving as necessary.
We got 100 ABP, the Dragon Seal, and the Ragnarok for our trouble. On to Exdeath.
Exdeath
I made everyone Freelancers for the final fight. Rand got the Summon Lv. 5 and Mimic abilities. Lenna got Black Magic Lv. 6 and Mimic. Krile got Revive and Mimic and Faris got White Magic Lv. 6 and Mimic.

We couldn’t hold up to Neo Exdeath’s rapid-fire attacks late in the fight, so I had everyone master the Monk job to get the HP boost and then tried again. For the first part, I had Lenna cast Flare and everyone mimic it, other than when I needed Faris to heal.
For the second part, I had Rand cast Odin to insta-kill the back-half of the monster, and then cast Bahamut and everyone mimic other than when healing needed done. It wasn’t an easy victory, but it wasn’t super hard either.
Prologue
Rand and Krile stand alone in a field of stars wondering why the Void is still there. Lenna and Faris show up.
Lenna speculates it is because the crystals are gone. Krile farts out some stars and then the crystal shards come out of her and we see the message “Hope, bless the earth…”
The same happens with Faris and we get, “Courage, light the fires…” Lenna gets, “Devotion, breath life into the waters…”
Rand gets, “Passion, spread knowledge on the winds…” We see the Void spitting out all the towns it swallowed.
Rand and Lenna remark that the world and the crystals are being reborn. They all pat themselves on the back for taking such good care of the crystals.
King Tycoon and the Dawn Warriors show up. They tell the kids that the world still needs them and they should return.
Cid just got a letter…
The scene shifts to Mid delivering a letter to Cid from Krile. She updates them on the goings on since the last battle.
She thinks it would be cool to be queen. Boko and Koko had their chicks. Lenna and Faris are running Tycoon and Rand is off journeying.
Krile is on her way to visit the place where her grandpa died. Cid flashes back to some scenes from all of their adventures.
Reunion
The scene shifts again to Krile at the Forest of Moore, leaving flowers for Galuf. She talks about being lonely since her Grandpa died.
Rand and the others drop down out of the trees telling her she’s not alone. They agree that it is their job to protect the crystals like the Dawn Warriors did before them.
The scene ends with Krile on her Wind Drake and everyone else on chocobos riding off. The credits roll and we get some stats on each of the party members.
Eventually, you get to save your progress, though there is no new game+. I’ll probably play through one more time just to take a more deliberate path through the job system, instead of choosing jobs at random.
My final completion time was 38 hours and 52 minutes.
